RUSIA-UCRANIA: Posicionamiento de editoriales científicas comerciales frente al conflicto

Los editores condenan la invasión de Ucrania por parte de Rusia

Los abajo firmantes condenamos conjuntamente la guerra en Ucrania y pedimos que se ponga fin a más pérdidas de vidas sin sentido. Estamos consternados y entristecidos por la crisis humanitaria.

Hemos tomado la medida sin precedentes de suspender las ventas y la comercialización de productos y servicios a organizaciones de investigación en Rusia y Bielorrusia. Nos unimos a otras organizaciones de todo el mundo que están actuando para poner fin a esta agresión y restaurar la paz.

Como organizaciones individuales, estamos trabajando para ayudar a los colegas y contratistas afectados, al tiempo que contribuimos a los esfuerzos de ayuda más amplios que están proporcionando seguridad y apoyo a los que están en peligro, incluidos los investigadores ucranianos.

Seguimos comprometidos con los ideales de la ciencia y la erudición como comunidad global. Nuestras acciones no se dirigen a los investigadores rusos, sino a las organizaciones de investigación de Rusia y Bielorrusia. Por eso seguimos publicando y distribuyendo manuscritos de autores de estos países de la forma independiente que establecen las directrices de COPE para la investigación, que dice "Las decisiones editoriales no deben verse afectadas por el origen del manuscrito, incluyendo la nacionalidad, etnia, creencias políticas, raza o religión de los autores".

Dada la rápida evolución de la situación, seguiremos evaluando nuestras posiciones de forma permanente.

Publishers condemn invasion of Ukraine by Russia

We the undersigned jointly condemn the war in Ukraine and call for a stop to any more senseless loss of life. We are shocked and saddened by the humanitarian crisis.

We have taken the unprecedented step of suspending sales and marketing of products and services to research organisations in Russia and Belarus. We join other organisations globally that are acting to bring about an end to this aggression and to restore peace.

As individual organisations, we are working to aid affected colleagues and contractors, while contributing to broader relief efforts that are providing safety and support for those in peril including Ukrainian researchers.

We remain committed to the ideals of science and scholarship as a global community. Our actions are not targeted at Russian researchers, but rather at research organisations in Russia and Belarus. This is why we continue to publish and distribute manuscripts from authors in these countries in the independent way set out in the COPE guidelines for research which states: "Editorial decisions should not be affected by the origins of the manuscript, including the nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, or religion of the authors." 

Given the rapidly changing situation we will continue to evaluate our positions on an ongoing basis.
